The center for computational quantum chemistry has been approved by Minerva as a joint Hebrew University - Technion center and was inaugurated, as The Lise Meitner-Minerva Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry, in Jerusalem during the Beirat meeting which took place on July 6, 1997. Professor Sason Shaik was nominated as the first director of the center and Professor Yitzhak Apeloig as his co-director in the Technion.
